A Painful Truth...

I'm always reading and researching, sometimes at the cost of my writing. But a large percentage of the time I invest in these diversions is centered on writing, marketing, and plotting. Really! Honest!

It has become painfully obvious over the past year that my first two novels are not marketing well. I know part of the reason is a lack of promotion. That's okay. I can work on that. I need to finish the last two books in the series. Readers want to know the story they invest their time and money in will actually come to a satisfactory end. So I'm working on that.

The other big issue is my covers. I made them myself. Money was short and I wanted to get them published after years of delay. I do have a degree in art and limited experience with DAZ3D and Photoshop. That does not make me an illustrator. I can write, or I can learn/relearn the skills I need to create my covers. I need to write. I need to let my illustrator do my covers.

Ouch.

The first one, for Taking the Stars, is done. I think it looks great. The other three are in process. Meanwhile, this is an opportunity to also correct or tweak the story in my first two books.

Yeah, I can do that, too.

I'll keep you posted on my progress if you would like to follow along. Follow me or sign up for my newsletter if you would like to keep track of my progress. I would enjoy comments and questions.

I'll post again in a week, letting you know what happens next. Meanwhile, would you like a peek at the new cover? See below!

What do you think? Let me know.

For the new writer...

Congratulations on taking the first serious steps toward becoming an author. Did someone tell you it's easy? They lied. Did they say it...
